I. Index1. Introduction II. Content1. IntroductionIn this lesson, you will be playing the C major chord inversion straddles. A straddle is just a fancy word that means to play the outside notes of a chord first, then the note in between the outside notes after that. This exercise is the same as the inversions exercise, except for the fact that instead of playing all the notes of the chord at the same time, you will play them as a straddle.2. C Major Chord Inversion StraddlesLet's take a look at the C major chord inversion straddles. You will be using the C major chord in this example.3. Steps to Play the C Major Chord Inversion StraddlesThe steps for this exercise use both hands. You can also practice this exercise one hand at a time. Let's go through the steps for this exercise.Step 1: Play the C major chord in root position with both hands as a straddles. So both hands will play the outside notes C and G, then will play the inside note E after that. Step 2: Move both hands up the piano keyboard and play the C major chord in first inversion as a straddle. So both hands will play the outside notes E and C, then will play the inside note G after that. Step 3: Move both hands up the piano keyboard again and play the C major chord in second inversion as a straddle. So both hands will play the outside notes G and E, then will play the inside note C after that. Step 4: You will now return to the C major chord in root position, one octave higher from where you started from. Move both hands up the piano keyboard and play the C major chord in root position as a straddle. So both hands will play the outside notes C and G, then will play the inside note E after that. Now it's time to move backwards to return to our starting position. Step 5: Move both hands down the piano keyboard and play the C major chord in second inversion as a straddle. So both hands will play the outside notes G and E, then will play the inside note C after that. Step 6: Move both hands down the piano keyboard and play the C major chord in first inversion as a straddle. So both hands will play the outside notes E and C, then will play the inside note G after that. In the next step, you will be returning to our starting position at the beginning of this exercise. Step 7: Move both hands down the piano keyboard to return to our starting position and play the C major chord in root position as a straddle.
