How to Construct Augmented Chord

 

Symbol for Augmented chord is a “+” or “aug“, and its formula is:

 

      Root + 4 HS + 4 HS
      [Note: HS – Half Step, refer to Lesson 12 – Music Intervals ] 
      or,
      1 – 3 – #5
       
      So, In the key of C, the Caug chord is
      C – E – G#
      (i.e. C major chord with the fifth note raised by one semitone)
       
      [Note: compared this with C Major Chord –
      C – E – G]
