Ellery Queen

Ellery Queen wrote more than 35 detective novels.  Not only this name has appeared as an author of all the novels, but also as a detective hero in the novels as well.  Many movies and other shows have based their stories on Ellery’s works.  Some of Ellery’s 30 novels such as “Ellery Queen, Master Detective” (1940), and “Enemy Agents Meet Ellery Queen” (1942) were made into movies.

Allery Queen is a pseudonym name of the two cousins who co-wrote all of their books - Frederic Dannay (1905-1982) and Manfred Bennington Lee (1905-1971). They co-found Ellery Queens Mystery Magazine which is the longest running magazine in the U.S. history as well as one of the leading crime fiction magazines for the past 65 years.

Ellery had also written a total of 70 short stories which were also featured in Crackajack Funnies in 1940.  The name also appeared in several board games between 1956 through 1986 - the first one was “Ellery Queen’s Great Mystery Game”, and the one in 1986 was “Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine Game”.

Together, the two cousins had co-edited many short-stories collections - Misadventures of Sherlock Holmes was one of them.  Another of their great work was anthology for The Modern Library – 101 Years’ Entertainment: The Great Detective Stories 1841-1941.  Allery Queen also worked as a screenwriter for Hollywood’s “The Four of Hearts” and “The Origin of Evil”.
